Surviving Harvey | My Story

Before I start telling you guys my story about how Hurricane Harvey affected me and my family, I wanted to say that we were extremely lucky and that a lot a lot of people got it a lot worse than us. Compared to others, we really didn't loose a lot and the damage after wasn't as bad as other stories that I have heard or seen on the news. Please keep every one affected in your thoughts and prayers. Not just the ones affected by Harvey, but by Hurricane Irma, and Hurricane Maria.

Okay let's get started.

So It all started the morning of Sunday, August 26th. I had woken up and it was raining like crazy. I went into the living room, and saw my parents watching CNN. My dad looked at me and said "The street is flooded like last year". So, last year we had this weird 12hr period of just raining non stop which made our whole street flood like crazy, but luckily our apartment complex was on a hill so we just got surrounded by water, but nothing inside the complex. So I thought that we would be fine since we were last year.

Every hour, my dad and I would go check out the front gates to see how high the water was getting and it seemed to go up and up. We were a little worried but not too much since it would rain, stop, and then start going up again. We thought that it would just stay as it was, and since the water had a current, we thought that it would just keep flowing.

Around 4pm, my dad went to take a quick nap, and when he woke up around 6pm, we went to go check the gates, and the water was rising rapidly, the creek in the back had come into the back part of the complex, and many of the people inside the complex, had started to move their cars away from the back of the complex. And that is when the panic started to kick in.

Long story short, we were rescued by airboat, and after that we stayed with family friends. We lost some of our furniture, some beds, and other things, but besides that we are all okay. Now we are dealing with the crisis in Puerto Rico. My whole family is over there, and if you have seen my vlogs, you know how happy being in Puerto Rico makes me. I am heartbroken by all of the resent events, but I cant wait to go back to normal. I miss blogging and making videos. I will be back sooner that you all think so bare with me!

PS: I will be filming a video with the full story on my Youtube Channel soon.

Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Look | Video

Hello my loves!

This weeks video is an exciting one. After getting my hands on this Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette the second time they re stocked it, I had been playing around with it, making different looks (and messes), and after a little while, I came up with the look in the video below.

I am honestly so obsessed with this palette and all the colors are beautiful, super pigmented, and easy to blend and apply. But enough of that, lets get on with the video!

Hope that you guys enjoy it and make sure to subscribe while you are there!! :)

Mini Marshalls Haul | Video

Hello Beauties!!
It has been awhile since I have done a haul of any kind, and I was so excited to be able to sit down and finally film one. If you have been watching my videos for awhile you will see that I have a strange love hate relationship with Marshalls. Sometimes I find a lot of things and sometimes I walk empty handed and disappointed. Luckily, this was one of the happy times where I just kept grabbing things since the second I walked in the door. So I filmed a little haul and showed you guys all the goodies that I got.

I hope that you guys like it!

Blue Sunset Look | Video

Hello Loves.
So I am so excited to be back with a video after being gone from YouTube for so long. I am happy to be back and start making more videos. For the fist video back, I wanted to play around with my Juvia's Place palette and put a crazy, fun look together.

I am absolutely obsessed with this palette. The colors are so bright and super pigmented and the best part about this palette was that it was super inexpensive. I believe the palette that I used in this video is on sale right now on their website for about $19.99 and it use to be $30. So make sure to go get your hands on it before it is gone.

Anyways, I really hope that you all enjoy this look and make sure to subscribe to my channel while you are there. Let me know what other future videos you guys would like to see.

See ya!

New Name, New Look, Same Goal

Hello lovely, (aw).
So for a little while now I have been wanting to change things up on my shop. I always like to change things on the blog, but I thought it was time that I made changes to the design studio.

I opened LovelyParis Designs back in April of 2014 and I have loved every second of it. It was a lot of trial and error, but it was awesome to learn all about designing templates and doing it by myself, I think I did a pretty good job. The name of LovelyParis came to be from my obsession with all things Paris at the time. It was pretty crazy. My bathroom was all Paris themed (the soap dispenser was an Eiffel Tower..), room decorations, my wallpapers. Everything. But since 2014, I have slowly grown out of the Paris-loving faze and decided it was time to change everything. No more Paris Decorations and more grown up things.

The last thing to rid the Paris obsession was the name of the shop. So I had been thinking of a couple of names for the last couple of weeks and I finally found one that I really like. Sirena Dolce, meaning sweet mermaid in Italian, was born on a couple of things. I came up with the name because as a Puerto Rican girl, being tropical and beach-addicted, I wanted something to kind represent that, what better way than with a mermaid. That is how Sirena Dolce came to be and I really like it.

With a new name comes new things. I am so excited to expand the shop and sell new products than just the usual Blogger Templates and add ons. Just recently I added Snapchat Geofilters and I cannot wait to add more. But besides the Snapchat filters I am looking to add more things like invitations, thank you cards, business cards and more. So if you haven't already, make sure to follow the shop's Instagram to keep up with all things Sirena Dolce!

They are Here! | Snapchat Filters

I am so excited to be able to write this post.
It has been a little while that I've wanted to expand the shop and add more than just the usual Blogger Templates and little extras for Blogger, and one of these things are Snapchat GeoFilters. I am so excited to be doing this. The first Geofilter that I made wasn't too long ago and I made it for my boss' wedding.
I love designing and making templates, and now slowly starting to expand my shop. I am always learning and trying to make my designs better, and being to add new things to the shop is very exciting. I am working on a lot more filters and other things for the shop and I cant wait to share them with you all. I hope that you all like the snapchat filters and be on the look out for new filters and other really cool things coming to Lovely Paris very soon.

New Things | LovelyParis Designs

Hello my lovely people. I haven't been on my blog in a really long time. But I'm back and with exciting news. It had been a while since I had designed anything for LovelyParis and I finally got back into doing so. I am also in the process of updating old templates and making them a bit better. But I wanted to introduce these two new templates first, before I talk about the templates that I am currently updating and one that I finished.

Now I am not just saying this because I created this template, but I am really loving how this template turned out. The marble background is subtle yet gives the whole template a bit more character. I love the boho style and the copper and navy blue theme that this template has going and I was really excited to share this with you all. It has a mobile version which I believe is really important with any template. What else can I say? I really hope that you guys like this template as much as I do!

This next one just went live on my Etsy store today! Floral templates are my favorite and are the ones that tend to do very well on my store, so I thought that I would create another one. This one comes with a Featured post slider and a magazine style format. I love the layout of this one and how bright and bubbly it is. I love bright templates. It makes the whole blog just feel fresh and sweet. This one also comes with a mobile version, a pin it hover button and other cute little features like the sidebar title paint backgrounds which have to be my favorites.

To check out these templates, all you have to do is click on the title. I will leave a link to the listings on the Etsy show below also so that you can check them out there if you are interested. Please keep an eye out for new and exciting things on LovelyParis. I am starting to expand on to more than templates and I cant wait for you all to see what I am working on!

Thanks for stopping by !

World's Longest Zipline | Puerto Rico Vlog 3

So I know this vlog is kinda late, but better late than never. I barely had any internet to upload the first Puerto Rico vlog, and this second one just wouldn't upload so I had to wait until I was back home to be able to upload them. I had the most amazing time with my family in Puerto Rico and I am sad to have left, but I did start to get a bit home sick. I am writing this at my desk at work wishing I was back in Puerto Rico with my family. Anyways, hope that you guys like this vlog and the little drone shots I was able to get! Make sure to subscribe while you're there.

What Did I Eat? | Puerto Rico Vlog 2

Another day, another Puerto Rico vlog! This one is quite a funny one. The other day, I decided (decided wrongly) to try an oyster which I have never tried before and it was horrible. But before I tried it, I turned my camera on and got the whole reaction on film. I also filmed some bits of Naranjito which is where the other half of my family lives and the place where my heart will always be. It is so cool to be able to come back and see all of the places I use to go to when I was a little girl. I love this little town and all of the short little memories I made here with my family. Anyways, here is a tiny vlog to show you guys a little bit of my home town!

Im Here | Puerto Rico Vlog

I am sitting in the humid, 80 degree weather trying to post this vlog on my blog. I have been in Puerto Rico for a week out of my two week vacation here and it has been so good. Not only has it been good as in weather and fun things with the family, but mentally, physically, and emotionally great. As you may or may not know, I have been having a lot of anxiety lately and just not been going through the best of times, but being here has completely gotten my mind off of all of that which is exactly what I needed.  This first vlog is a quick little one of me arriving here and a couple of days into my trip, but I have two more coming up that are already ready to upload (so watch out for them). But for now I leave you with this one. Hope you like it and make sure to subscribe while you are there!

My Workout Routine | Videos and Links

It has been a couple of months since I started working out and I have started to fall in love with it. It was so hard for me to actually go work out, but there came a day where I just didn't feel happy with the way I looked and my doctor also recommended it to help with my anxiety and to sleep a little better at night so I gave it a proper go. Now, I can't go a day without going to the gym.

So, This is my routine for the week when I go to the gym and the things I use before and after my workout.
Before I start my work out I usually take a pre workout called NLA Uplift which is for women. This pre work out helps you attack your workouts with intensity, focus, giving you sustained energy that helps you to push your body to a whole new level. I have tried a lot of pre workouts and this one is one of the best ones that I have tried and it is specifically for women. I take this 20-30 minutes before my workout until I feel a little tingling sensation and I can start my routine.

Mondays & Wednesdays
For these two days I like to focus more on my legs and glutes. This is my favorite things to work out and the one that I like to focus on the most. But, before I get started on my routine,  I like to do a mile on the treadmill. I usually just power walk on  4.1 speed and at a 4.0 incline. Then I start doing my leg work outs. I am usually at the gym about an hour to and hour and a half. Below are some videos of some the machines that I use and how to use them.

Tuesdays & Fridays:
These two days I focus a bit more on arms and abs. I like to do more arms than abs. Lately it has been sort of a struggle for me to do a lot of ab workouts because I have stomach conditions, but I try to do as much as I can. Anyways, I love doing arms as much as I do legs, and here are some of the things that I do at the gym to workout my arms and back.

Full Arm, Shoulder, Back Workouts (most of the exercises in this video are ones that I do)

I like to keep this routine going as much as I can. After my workouts I like to stretch and head into the sauna for about 15-20 minutes. For an after workout drink, I take ISO 100 Hyrdolyzed which is a protein I take. My resting days are Thurdays, Saturdays, and Sundays and I also eat as healthy as I can, but I do have my cheat days or have a couple of drinks on the weekends, but nothing way over the top. All in moderation.

I hope that you found this post helpful! If you workout and have some cool workouts, protein drinks or anything that you do or use, please let me know in the comments below!!

How to Stay Productive with Blogging/YouTube | Happy Blog

I know for me, It is sometimes difficult to find time to do what I enjoy doing most which is designing, posting blog post and creating YouTube videos. So, today I wanted to create a little post about how to keep your blog going, stay productive, and have content to share. These are some of the things that help me keep my blog running and help me create post. Let me tell you, It is not easy to find the time to post or create videos, when you work all day or are in school. For me, work consumes most of my time and I don't like not being able to post, but I make the time for something that I really enjoy doing. Here are my tips and tricks on how to stay productive.

1. Research
Once you have found the time to post or create a video, now it is time to decide what to post or film about. This is really hard especially if you know you want to create content, but don't know what to do it on. I know for me, it is very stressful when I have no ideas for good content and I haven't posted in a week. I like to post at least once a week, and having no ideas, is no good. So I do some research. What are the things that interest you at the moment? How can you take someones idea and make it your own original content?

To answer these questions, I turn to the best resource around. The internet. If you are already on it, use it. I love finding new ideas through different Bloggers and YouTubers. What are they doing? What is something that everyone likes to see/read? What is trending? All of those things. Getting inspiration from others can spark a new idea and help you create the content you want to create. Don't be afraid of bouncing off someone's idea, but remember to keep it original. No one likes to see the same thing twice from different people. If you like someone's idea, change it up, add new things, add a twist and make it yours.

2. Have a Plan
When trying to create new content, the best way to start is to have a plan. Any content or post that is planned, turns out a lot better than any content that has not been thought out. This to me is my favorite part when wanting to create. I love to sit down with my planner and write all my ideas down, days I can create them on, what days I will post them up or upload on. Just having a schedule for my posts to make my blog and channel consistent. I created my own little planner that helps me with every part of the process. The things I need to plan the most and every detail that goes into planning a video or post is in my little homemade planner. Not all the planners out there have the same little sections that I need, so I created my own. This one keeps me on the right track and it was fun to make as well. If you don't have a planner and don't want to buy it, make it! I made mine and not only was it fun, but I was able to make it just how I wanted to with all of the questions and areas I wanted to have in order to make my planning a bit more organized and efficient.

3. Pre-Schedule Posts
One of the things that I like to do is Pre Schedule my post or pre-plan them. I create a post when I am not busy, then schedule them to go live whenever I want them to. By doing this, I can create a couple of post one day, and schedule them to go live at different times or days. That way I will have posts to publish and keep my blog running instead of doing a post anytime I have free time, because you can never be sure when that will be. By doing this, I can spend the free time that I have creating multiple posts in one day that can go live on multiple days. I do the same thing with my YouTube Videos. If I know that I won't be able to film in the days to come, I take one day to film as many videos as possible and upload them on different days. I know a lot of YouTubers that do this and It is a great way to have new content constantly on your channel. Pre-Scheduling is a great way to make your blog seem active all the time.

4. All or Nothing
I love blogging and making YouTube videos and I film a lot of videos. I even make the same videos more than once. When it comes to my YouTube, I am a perfectionist. If I watch my videos back and don't like them, I don't upload them. I want to create content that I am happy with and post things that I find are good enough. In the past, I would just create a post just to create a post, but I found that no only was I just "forcing" content, but that there was no engagement. Posts and videos that I spent more time with, planned out more, and just structured better where the ones that people seem to enjoy more and that is an awesome thing. If you are not happy with what you have created, don't post it. Post something that you are content with and that you have worked hard or long to post. Hard work pays off. Working hard and loving what you do is key. If you don't like what you do, do something about it. If this is what you want to do, work hard at it and make it the best that you can possibly make it. Not only will this make you want to keep creating, but it will make for a happy you and a happy blog.

I hope that you found this post useful.
Let me know somethings that you find helpful when you sit down to plan or things that help you find time to create new content.
I will see you guys on my next post.

New Rose Gold Morphe Brushes

A couple of weeks back I saw that Morphe had launched a new set of brushes and because I am an impulse buyer, I decided to get them. They were not at all expensive and its Morphe, so you know their products are going to be good. I did make a post about a little Morphe travel brush set that I had and how I really liked them, but it didn't come with a lot of brushes. It came with two face brushes and like three eye brushes. Unlike this one, which comes with all you need! In total, this set comes with 12 brushes and a travel case that is super cute!
The six eye brushes are great! They are super soft and get the product on the eye well and blend like a dream.
The face brushes are my fave. Not going to lie, they do shed a little bit (so did the small ones in the travel case I had), but its not something that really bothers me. Maybe I press too hard on them, but its not that big of a deal. They work really well. The one that I really like in this set is the highlighter brush ( looks like a bigger blending brush in the picture above). I have never really owned a highlighter brush and I really like this one. I use a Becca highlighter and the brush picks it up really nice and it doesn't really over do it.
But anyways, if you are looking for a cheap pair of brushes I really recommend these ones. I believe that they are currently sold out, but don't stop checking the Morphe website. They update their products quite freaquently. Also, there are really good discount codes available for a % off of your purchase. The one I use is MANNYMUA.

New Room Tour | Video

I haven't updated my room tour video in a while and my room looks nothing like it did in the previous room tour so I wanted to make a new one. I don't think my room has been that way in a really long time, but anyways here is an update on my room. I also threw in my bathroom since I also just redecorated it completly. Most of the things in this video are from Marshalls or Target! Anyways, I hope that you enjoy this video and make sure to subscribe to my channel. It would mean the world to me!

Hanging on to Fatih | with Spanish Translation

Sometimes this blog serves as just more than a space where I can share the things that make me happy, but also the sad. And boy have I been sad the last couple of months. Like really sad. But, of course I must power thru it and make the best out of the worst of situations. Of course, some days are easier than others and I even forget that I am sad, which is obviously what I want. Anyways, today has been one of those tough days where I am really upset. It might have to do with the fact that I am on my period(most likely that), but It has been going on for a little while. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post on what has been making me upset and all the "bleh" stuff, so if you haven't read that its just a few post below this one called Story & Advice Time. But since I wrote a lot of what I was really feeling and all that has been going on in that post, then this one will be different.

When things don't seem to go the way that you want them to go, you loose hope. You really do, and I was one of those people that said that I would never do that, and I said that because I had never really been in a situation where I really thought I could. Until now. Which is normal in my opinion. For a while I did loose hope and faith and just gave up. Not really on what the last soppy post was all about but just things not really going the way I wanted them to with YouTube, family, work, and school. I was just not happy, and I feel as though I am not fully there yet and being "strong" for all this time is really starting to get to me. But after all the changes, ups and down, and bad moments, I know that the last thing I need to do is loose my hope and faith.

A little while ago I had a dream that made me get up in the middle of the night crying. I had never experienced anything like it before and when I remember that dream, I feel just a bit better and I sort of click back into place. The dream was of me in a school that I was teaching at (I am not a teacher of any kind, but okay.) that right next to the ocean. It looked sort of like a pier in a way. I remember walking down the halls talking to parents as they took their children's home. I told them to be safe because there was a storm coming. In a moment the school was packed, and in the blink of an eye, it was empty and I was alone in the whole school. I walked outside and saw the ocean unsteady, and the waves crashing to the rocks close by. The sky was dark and the wind was strong. I was still alone, and when I blinked, there was a man standing just a couple of feet away from me. He stood there and was wearing all white, and had long hair and a beard. I knew who it was, but I was so scared. I couldn't move. And all he said was "Please Maria, don't be scared." But I was. He came closer, and the fear started to go away and all I could do was cry. He put his arm around me and said "It's ok. I am here." I looked up at him and said "I thought you abandoned me. I am so sad, and I thought you'd be there." He put his head down and reminded me, "I am alway here. I haven't abandoned you. You abandoned me." I cried even more and said that I was sorry. And then I woke up. I cried so much when I woke up because Jesus knew I had given up on him. And I felt ashamed that I had done so. But It was easy to give up and even harder to keep my faith, when it was all bad situations after bad situation. After that day, I pray every night and I know that my faith is the last thing that I need to give up on. God is with me in the good and the bad times. Even when I fear as though I have let him down, I know he is still there telling me to keep going. Yes, it might sound a bit cheesy, but it's the truth.

You know what is really cool though? Having a priest friend. I think he has seen me at my lowest, and when I go walking in his office looking like I got hit by a train, he takes the time to give me the best advice. Even when I don't want to hear what he tells me, I know it is what I have to do. And It is hard, but he is right ( which is annoying most of the time :D ). It is so crazy the way my little job of a receptionist has really transformed my little heart. Of course, I am still learning a lot of things and I ask a lot of questions, but for the most part my heart is so full of Jesus that all of this anxiety and broken-heartness don't even have room to be there.

I am tired. Really tired. Tired of things not going the way I want them too, but that is life. You live and you learn. When one door closes another one opens and I believe that so much. I am also such a bad friend that it is time to re-connect with the friends that I haven't talked to in a while. I also need time for myself. Do more of the things that make me happy. I want to do more YouTube, blog and design, and loose myself in my work for a little while. I know that it will be when I finally find myself and say "Here. This is what I want to do, who I want to be, and who I want to do it with". But for now, I need to take a step back and say chill. Things will happen when they are suppose to happen. Learn patience. Learn Love, really love. Learn happiness. Learn faith.
And just be me.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 4:6-7

No podía moverme. Bajó la cabeza y me recordó: "Estoy aquí siempre, no te he abandonado, me has abandonado tu". Lloré aún más y le dije que lo sentía. Y luego me desperté.

- Filipenses 4:6-7
